Tony Clarkin is an actor and voice over artist born in Limerick City on November 3rd 1952. He performed as a child actor in various theatre productions and was a member of the College Players Limerick City and the Abbey Theatre School of Acting Dublin. He performed in a production of 'Romeo and Juliet' at the Gate Theatre Dublin produced and directed by theatre legends Hilton Edwards and Michael Mac Liammoir. Clarkin has a unique range of skills. He has a robust resume for his theatre work playing many roles from Bill Sikes in 'Oliver!', King Henry V111 in 'A Man for All Seasons' to William Burke in 'The Doctor and the Devils' at the Theatre Royal Plymouth directed by Roger Redfarn. Estragon in 'Waiting for Godot', Prince Escalus of Verona in 'Romeo and Juliet, King Henry 11 in 'Becket', Scrooge in 'A Christmas Carol', directed by John Butler. Radio Drama includes Mr. Doolan/Mr, Bacon in 'Pendennis' by William Makepeace Thackeray, BBC Radio 4FM Drama 1986 directed by Peter Kavanagh. 'Readings from Shakespeare' 1978, Independent Radio Drama. Tony Clarkin is the Voice Over for 'Puffs Tissues' television commercials for Publicis New York, which ran for 10 years, a poetry based animation television campaign which won many awards and recognition in the US and Canada. Clarkin is the voice of Richard Francis Burton the Victorian Explorer for the Channel 4 Documentary 'Source of the White Nile' for the television series 'To the Ends of the Earth, directed by Stephen White. He has voiced many characters in the BBC Documentary series 'Blood of the Vikings' and narrated the story of 'The London Symphony Orchestra and their move from the 'Barbican' to the renovated new recording studio at St Luke Church London, a BBC 4 Documentary. He narrated 'The Story of Golf, Past Masters Champions'. Clarkin voiced various World War 11 leaders and notable people in 'Visas for Love'1999 for Poseidon Films, directed by Gary Kurtz. Clarkin voices audio description for the blind for SKY Television dramas and feature films.
