At the 1961 Italian Grand Prix, the rear wheels of Wolfgang von Trips's Ferrari collided with the front wheels of Clark's Lotus after von Trips shifted sideways. The Ferrari spun twice and went into the guardrail, then bounced back, struck the Lotus, and flew into the crowd. Von Trips and 15 spectators were killed.

Two-time Formula 1 World Champion: (1963, 1965).

Ex-Formula One racing driver, who raced for Lotus (1960 (6 GPs)-1961 (8 GPs)-1962 (9 GPs)-1963 (10 GPs)-1964 (10 GPs)-1965 (9 GPs)-1966 (8 GPs)-1967 (11 GPs)-1968 (1 GPs)). He started 72 Grands Prix, 25 Wins, 33 Pole Positions, 28 Fastest Laps, 32 Podiums and 274 Points.

Held the record of the most Formula One pole positions between August 1967 and June 1989.

1965 Indianapolis 500 Winner. Jim Clark became the first Briton to win the Indy 500, the first driver to win Indy 500 with a rear-engine car and Formula 1 World Championship in the same year (1965).
