Veteran actor Cioffi appeared on television and in films. He may be best-remembered as Tom Cruise's blue-collar widower father in All the Right Moves (1983) or as revenge-seeking Ernesto Toscano on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives (1965) or, for those whose memories go a bit further back, as the sadistic killer (mostly of prostitutes) stalking Jane Fonda for most of the thriller Klute (1971) (for which Fonda won her first Academy Award).

One of his scenes from Another World (1964) was used as the TV program in the background while the groupie is walking through the apartment ("Are all these your guitars?"), immediately before the song "One of My Turns".
