James M. Churchman

James M. Churchman is an accomplished stunt coordinator, second unit director, and stunt performer with more than 30 years of experience in film and television. He has contributed to over 111 productions, bringing his expertise in visual storytelling and large scale action to major studio blockbusters. Churchman served as stunt coordinator on Venom: The Last Dance (2024). His earlier credits include key stunt coordination and performance roles on Marvel Cinematic Universe films such as Iron Man 3, for which he shared the 2014 Taurus World Stunt Award for Best Stunt Rigging on the film’s landmark 14 man free-fall sequence, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Ant-Man. A specialist in complex rigging and practical action, he is known for creating dynamic, safe, and emotionally impactful sequences that serve the story. Beyond the set, Churchman founded the Flying Hero Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses professional motion picture rigging to give children with special needs the unforgettable experience of flying like superheroes. The organization has now flown more than 700 children, blending cinematic craft with genuine human connection. Drawing on three decades of experience in visual storytelling, practical effects, and on set film making, Churchman is now transitioning into writing and directing. He is developing original feature projects and creating content focused on stunt craft, behind the scenes process, and the powerful stories behind the Flying Hero Club.
