- Louis H. Chrispijn was born on May 13, 1854 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He was a director and actor, known for Luchtkastelen (1914), De vloek van het testament (1915) and De levende ladder (1913). He died on November 1, 1926 in Netherlands.
- In 1913 Chrispijn was asked by Maurits Binger to direct films for his company Hollandia. Because both were still beginners in the genre of the feature film, they jointly directed the film De leven ladder.
- Crispijn quickly became well-known as a jeune premier, and proceeded to perform with companies in The Hague and Rotterdam.
- In 1915 Chrispijn made his last film with: De Vloek van het Testament (The Curse of the Testament). The shooting was so hard on him that he officially announced that he no longer saw any artistic value in filmmaking.
- Chrispijn was also a strong supporter of 'bare acting', stripped of any pathos.
- In 1893, he was one of the founders of the Nederlandsche Tooneelvereeniging, where he both acted and directed.
