Biography

  • Kika Child is a Colombian actress of British and Spanish descent whose work spans international cinema, Colombian and Argentinean television, and the New York stage. Shaped by classical dance training in Bogotá and theater studies in Paris, she found her footing early on with the breakout role of Emma, the first wife of legendary boxer Gatica in Leonardo Favio's Gatica, el Mono (1991), a film that went on to earn a Goya Award and an Academy Award nomination. Since making New York City her home, Kika has built a quiet but lasting presence in the city's Spanish-language theater community. She is a proud member of the beloved Spanish Repertory Theater and a founding member of TabulaRasa NYC, with long runs like The House of the Spirits (2009-2011) and Doña Flor and Her Two Husbands (2012 -2020). Her most recent turn leading GALA Theatre's production of Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter was met with warm reviews and remains one of her most cherished experiences on stage. Off stage, Kika has been fortunate to be part of New York's vibrant film festival community, contributing to events like the Havana Film Festival NY and The Americas Film Festival NY (TAFFNY). She continues to seek out meaningful work in independent cinema including Michael Canzoniero's Making the Day (2022) and, most recently, Onur Tukel's A Company of Thieves (2025), and is developing her debut television series. She is currently on set in Colombia, shooting a period piece for Colombian television.
