President of the Republic Of China, officially called Taiwan (1949-75).

During the Korean War, United Nations coalition forces commander General Douglas MacArthur had requested American president Harry Truman for deploying the remnants of Chiang's KMT forces from Taiwan against the communist forces of Soviet Union backed North Korea. However, Truman, who was still disgusted by Chiang's conduct during the Chinese civil war against Mao Zedong's communist People's Liberation Army which led to fall of mainland China to communism, dismissed the proposal outright.

After his defeat to the Communist Party Of China led People's Liberation Army in the Chinese civil war, he retreated to Taiwan and conducted a campaign of mass-purging suspected communist sympathizers on the island, leading to the death of atleast a million Taiwanese. The event was chronicled as "White Terror".

At the time of his death, Taiwan was alongside Singapore as the fastest growing economy in Asia.

Was referred to in most communications by his Chief-Of-Staff and commander of all American forces in the China-Burma-India Theatre Of Operations during the second world war General Joseph Stilwell as "Peanut".
