- Chia Essie Lin was born on May 9, 1947 in Beijing, China. She is an actress, known for Return of the One-Armed Swordsman (1969), Wu fung chao yang (1971) and The Million Eyes of Sumuru (1967).
- Is of mixed Chinese (Sichuan) and Portuguese heritage.
- Discovered in 1965 by Shaw Brothers contract director King Hu while scouting for acting talent in Taiwan. He recommended she enter into the studio's training program, the Southern Drama Group.
