Biography

With a deft ability to balance both half-hour single camera comedies and one-hour dramas, Pete Chatmon has directed over 75 episodes of television including Showtime's Yellowjackets, HBO's The Flight Attendant, Insecure, and Silicon Valley, Starz' Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Netflix's You and Dead Boy Detectives, Hulu's Reasonable Doubt and Interior Chinatown, Paramount Plus' Fatal Attraction, CBS's Ghosts and NCIS: Origins, ABC's High Potential and Grey's Anatomy, FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and the Apple TV+ series Mythic Quest. He is an NAACP Image Awards Nominee for Outstanding Directing In A Comedy Series for his work on The Flight Attendant. Chatmon is currently serving as Executive Producer and Director on Starz' upcoming series, Power: Origins, for which he also directed the pilot.

His debut feature as writer/producer director, Premium, starred Dorian Missick, Zoe Saldana, and Hill Harper, and premiered on Showtime after a limited theatrical run. Chatmon also wrote, produced, and directed 761st, a documentary on the first Black tank battalion in WWII, narrated by Andre Braugher. He is in development on his next feature, a heist entitled The Withdrawal, that follows a bank teller, seemingly working alone, as he takes over a local bank, giving a small town a crash course in history, crime, and politics as the fate of an entire community sits in the balance.

Chatmon's career began in 2001 with the Sundance selection of his NYU thesis film, 3D, starring Kerry Washington. His most recent short film, BlackCard, premiered on HBO, and his narrative podcast, Wednesday Morning, engaged voters around the 2020 election. He continues to give back and educate the next generation of storytellers via his podcast, Let's Shoot! with Pete Chatmon and his book, Transitions: A Director's Journey + Motivational Handbook.
