Biography

Albertina Carri (Buenos Aires, 1973) is one of the most distinctive voices to emerge from the New Argentine Cinema movement. A filmmaker and writer with a restless creative vision, her work spans noir, documentary, drama, pornography, and experimental forms -drawing on techniques such as found footage, animation, scratching, and erotica to push the boundaries of what cinema can do. Her films have traveled the world's major festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, Locarno, San Sebastián, and Rotterdam. Among her seven feature films are Los rubios, La rabia, Cuatreros, Las hijas del fuego, and ¡Caigan las rosas blancas!, alongside numerous short films, telefilms, TV series, and video installations. Beyond the screen, Carri has authored and co-authored several books, including the novel Lo que aprendí de las bestias and the essay Las posesas (with philosopher Esther Díaz). She also served as artistic director of Asterisco, Argentina's international LGBTIQ+ film festival, across its first three editions.
