Biography

Born in Queens, New York, then spending time in multiple states in the tri state area, Tim Carr started out in various radio stations, writing public service announcements and filling in for on air talent, when needed.

This led to Carr crossing paths in Baltimore Maryland with the casting directors for the television show "Homicide: Life On The Street", where he played small but recurring roles and spent the next few years in the city of Baltimore, working alongside one of the best casts on television, such as Emmy winner Andre Braugher, Clark Johnson, Richard Belzer and Academy Award Winner Melissa Leo.

This led to more and more opportunities all over the world, in print, films, television and commercials. Also at this time, Carr got involved in volunteering for The Special Olympics, and is still actively advocating for the organization.

In New York City, while playing the part of a trainee on TV series "The $treet" alongside Rick Hoffman, Tom Everett Scott, Christian Campbell and Academy award Winner Jennifer Connelly and also playing the part of "Colton" on ABC soap opera "All My Children...inspired by the works of Steve Martin, Spike Lee, Richard Linklater, Edward Burns, Kevin Smith, Billy Wilder and Kathryn Bigelow, Carr wrote and directed his first film "The Wrong Fortune Cookie", a light comedy, self financed and screened all over the world. The film was produced by Calvin Hill, one of their many film collaborations, and featured actress Jacci Garton. Garton and Carr were married in July of 2004.

When "The Wrong Fortune Cookie" was released, it was seen by filmmaker JJ Garvine, who cast Carr in the role of "David Easter" in the film "13th Grade". Garvine and Carr have continued to collaborate over the years, even working together on the film "Film Hawk" which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

After finishing his character arc on "All My Children", and with "13th Grade" in limited release, Carr teamed up with Calvin Hill for the Showtime pilot "Letting Go" (co starring veteran actors like Matt Myers, who was also in 13th Grade and Tony Devon), Carr met with Sylvester Stallone and ended up appearing as "Buddy" in "Rocky Balboa", and still keeps in touch with co stars Sylvester Stallone and Milo Ventimiglia. This was followed up by appearing alongside Jason Statham and Academy Award nominee Chris Sarandon in "Safe".

Soon after, Tim Carr met with filmmaker Jacob Stargrove, and they worked together on horror/comedy "Down With The Boogey", and upon it's release, Carr spent the next few years working on television pilots on screen, and behind the scenes, wrote and directed "A Deeper Shade of Soul" (nominated at the hypefest awards for best screenplay), award winning football biopic "Leaf", "The Other Ripken" starring musician G Love (which premiered at Cinequest film festival in San Jose, California), and two smaller documentary shorts, one called "Sunday in Philly" (Which world premiered at The Human Rights Film Festival in Seoul, South Korea in March 2020) and "August", which is a film about how a blood bank works after a tragedy. Carr also wrote international drama "Suhani" directed by Emmy nominee Mauro Giuffrida.

While staying in New York City, Carr joined forces with improv/sketch juggernauts "The Upright Citizen's Brigade" and since then, played many live comedy shows and events all over the country. Carr referred to live comedy as "invigorating, anything can happen and it often does. There's nothing like it".

In Philadelphia, Carr co created a documentary series called "The Laff House Stories", about the legendary Philadelphia comedy institution, "The Laff House". The show featured Carr alongside a stellar cast including, Kevin Hart, Deon Cole, Michael Blackson and Reginald Ballard.

Once "The Laff House Stories" wrapped, Carr and Jacob Stargrove would collaborate on Stargrove's longtime passion project, a TV series "The Grounders". "The Grounders" reunited Carr and his "Other Ripken" co-star Adam Way, and had sneak peeks in Philadelphia and Los Angeles and the series was nominated for 7 awards at the Baltimore New Web Festival.

With 6-10 projects in various stages of development, behind the scenes Carr has also established "The LUCY Initiative" which donates time, money and efforts to charitable organizations all over the globe and has traveled to Washington DC to meet with Congress to advocate on behalf of the Surfrider Foundation, Oceana and UNICEF.

On screen, and off screen, and globally, Carr continues to be among the hardest working talents around.
