  • Larry Carr's life is one of those stories that could only happen in Hollywood. Carr started out as a young actor in films doing day player roles. His good looks soon got him a few credited roles in films like "Again...Pioneers" and in early television shows. Like most people in Hollywood, Carr's career begin the go downhill as he got older.

    By the early 1960s, Carr went to Brazil where films capitalized on his good looks and he was regularly cast as the good-looking American in films. He was able to practice his writing skills and earn a living as an actor. Things were going well for Car until the early 1970s when his mother got sick and it forced him to go back to the United States to take care of her.

    During this time. Carr's love for the beauty of Hollywood inspired him to write "Four Fabulous Faces" and "More Fabulous Faces" which were books dedicated to some of the various leading ladies of Hollywood's golden age. It was around this time that Carr wanted to get back to work but he had lost his urge to become a star so he used his connections to register for the Screen Extras Guild. It was then that Carr found out that somebody else was using the name "Larry Carr" so he chose the stage name "Larry Charles" to register with the Screen Extra Guild. Carr started regularly appearing as detectives and suits in various shows filmed at Universal. He rarely had dialog he felt comfortable appearing in background roles that provided him a steady income for over 20 years.
