- Carone was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and raised in Los Angeles, California. His practical production and post-production experience dates back to age 10 when he would direct backyard short films with his neighborhood friends. Carone was hired by Universal Studios immediately after graduating from the University of Southern California (USC) to work at Universal Creative in the media production group. In 2001, Carone formed Planet C Studios to continue working on his own projects as well as maintaining his working relationship with Universal.

- The first time Carone was ever on a film set was at age 10 for the shooting of the final fight tournament scenes in the original Karate Kid movie. He was visiting Pat E. Johnson, the film's martial arts choreographer (Pat also played the roll of the referee of the tournament).
