Biography

Traute Carlsen was born on February 16, 1887 in Dresden, Germany. She was an actress, known for Heidi (1952), Heidi and Peter (1955) and Der Schriftmagier (1919). She was married to Karl Forest. She died on November 22, 1968 in Küsnacht, Zürich, Switzerland.

Received the Hans-Reinhart-Ring, the highest Swiss award for a stage actor. [1959].

German stage actress (from 1907) of Jewish ancestry, who moved to Switzerland in 1933 and settled there. She had appeared in silent melodramas for Imperator from 1913.

When the National Socialists came into power the Jewess Traute Carlsen escaped to Switzerland. There she was able to continue her theater career smoothly, in addition she also play in the Swiss movie "Jä soo!" (1935).

Traute Carlsen stayed in Switzerland after the war where she had a successful theater career.

She began her film career already in the silent movie era where she appeared in few movies like "Der Leidensweg einer liebenden Frau" (1913), "Manya, die Türkin" (1915) und "Dr. Hallin" (1921).
