Born in Brooklyn, New York, Johnny Cannizzaro is an actor and writer whose career spans television, film, and stage. Audiences have seen him on hit series including Quantum Leap, New Amsterdam, Criminal Minds: Evolution, S.W.A.T., The Rookie, NCIS: Hawai'i, and Matlock. He made his feature film debut in Clint Eastwood's Jersey Boys and later starred opposite Anthony Geary in the acclaimed independent film The Obituary.
In 2025, Johnny takes on another Jersey musician, playing Stevie Van Zandt in 20th Century Studios' Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. He is also set to star in the upcoming indie horror feature Stegosaurus, which follows Oliver Glass, a lonely substitute elementary school teacher who hides a dark secret in an effort to feel seen.
Johnny has earned the Best Actor Award at the 2024 Short & Sweet Festival and was named Best Comedic Actor at the 2018 Collaboration Filmmaker's Challenge. As a writer, he was awarded a year-long TalNexus writing Fellowship and has been featured twice in the ABC Talent Showcase.
Beyond acting, Johnny's personal life is equally as dynamic. He spent nearly two decades as the personal assistant to Milt Larsen, founder of the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood and during his early years in Los Angeles, shared an apartment with 88- year-old John Hospers, the first Libertarian candidate for President of the United States.
Off-screen, Johnny is a passionate advocate for animal rescue, dedicating his time to fostering and finding homes for stray dogs.
