Biography

Jesse Campbell was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, where his father pastored a church and his mother nurtured his early love for music. He began singing at the age of sixteen, leading songs in his father’s choir and performing at church and community events. Growing up in a spiritual household deeply rooted in gospel traditions, Jesse developed a signature sound defined by soul, sincerity, and power.

After high school, he pursued music full-time and was discovered for his extraordinary vocal ability, which led to a recording contract with Capitol Records. His debut album Never Let You Go was released in 1994, featuring the emotional single "When You Cry, I Cry." His breakthrough came with the hit "Where Is the Love," which appeared on the Dead Presidents film soundtrack, earning him a gold-certified recognition and wider national exposure.

In 2012, Jesse became a household name during Season 2 of NBC’s The Voice, where all four celebrity judges turned their chairs in awe of his blind audition. His performances were broadcast to millions, showcasing not only his vocal prowess but his emotional depth and stage command. Since then, he has toured across 25 countries and expanded into acting, playing lead roles in theatrical productions including The Greatest Showman at Sony Theater, The Marvin Gaye Story, and Captured by the Game.

Jesse is also the founder of Mister Jesse LLC and creator of Mister Jesse’s Reading Journey, a children’s YouTube series combining character voices, storytelling, and music to inspire literacy and life skills in young audiences.

He continues to work as a vocalist, actor, and motivational figure, bridging music and media to uplift audiences around the world.
