Mini bio

  • Duncan Hadley Cameron was born while his parents Ioan Cameron & Raye Holmes (both New Zealanders) were on their Big OE. He was born in his ancestral town - Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England, UK at 2.20am on Sunday May 27, 1979. His parents carried on with their OE (his father was a postgraduate law student and his mother was a cleaner) and Duncan travelled throughout Europe for the first year of his life before his parents returned home to New Zealand. Duncan is named after his grandfathers, Duncan Holmes (a former war vet), and Hadley Cameron (a sheep shearer). In 1982 his parents had his sisters 10 months apart, Kylie & Carolyn, and his baby brother in 1987, Trevor. He went to schools in Auckland, Gisborne, Tolaga Bay & Wellington. In 1992 his parents split up when he started high school and he had to live with his grandparents in Auckland so he deed polled his name to carry both his parents names. In 1999 he appeared on the TV series Shortland Street (1992) as a high school student before going on to the Australian show "Good Behaviour, Bad Behaviour" with his then girlfriend Kira Matthews. He got engaged to Kira on her birthday in 2000 and they married on the 14 of March 2001.
