Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Son of the late-great actor, James Cagney, James Jr. was adopted along with sister Cathleen (nickname "Casey") by the senior Cagney and wife 'Bill' in the early forties. James Jr. pre-deceased both his parents, dying of a heart attack in the early eighties. His appearance in "The Gallant Hours" as an infantryman was accompanied by a similarly brief appearance of director Robert Montgomery's son, Bob Jr.

He was divorced from Jill Lisbeth Inness who was from Maine. They had
two children: <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm1615521/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">James Cagney IV</a>, and Cynthia Cagney.

Nephew of writer/producer <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0128581/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">William Cagney</a>, writer <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0128572/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Edward Cagney</a> and actress <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0128573/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Jeanne Cagney</a>.

The New York Times reported that at the time of his death he was 42 years old.
