- Pauls Butkevics was born on August 8, 1940 in Riga, Latvian SSR, USSR [now Latvia]. He was an actor, known for Nepabeigtas vakarinas (1979), Pobeda (1985) and Rallijs (1978). He was married to Zinta Jansone. He died on June 12, 2026 in Jekabpils, Latvia.

- In 1990, he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Russian SFSR.
- After graduating from Riga Secondary School No. 11 in 1959, he began studying at the Riga Polytechnic Institute and worked at the VEF factory as an automatic telephone communication adjuster.
- His life partner was Zinta Jansone, a former costume designer for Latvian Television.
- Worked at the Robert Liger Riga Pantomime Theatre, but later joined the experimental 3rd studio of the Daile Theatre.
- While teaching at a musical acting course in Baltic Russian Institute, he wrote the musical play Es visur aicinats un izraidits, based on 15th to 20th century Russian poetry. Sung in Russian on the stage of Daugavpils Theatre, it premiered on 13 January 2005 and has been shown in several schools, recreation centers and libraries as well as road-shows in Russia.
