- Met husband Richard Burton on the set of his first film Woman of Dolwyn (1949). They had two children, Kate and Jessica. The latter suffered from severe autism and was institutionalized by the age of six.
- Founded the discotheque "Arthur" in 1965 on the site of the old El Morocco, in New York. Celebrity hangout, it closed in 1969.
