Neil Burstyn was born on July 17, 1939 in New York, USA. He was a writer and actor, known for The Monkees (1965), Panic in Year Zero! (1962) and The Young Savages (1961). He was married to Ellen Burstyn. He died on November 1, 1978 in New York, New York, USA.

Suffering from mental illness, Burstyn stalked his ex-wife, actress Ellen Burstyn, for a number of years, before he committed suicide in 1978 by jumping from a ninth-floor, Manhattan apartment window.
