- One of only nine original Mouseketeers to last the entire duration of The Mickey Mouse Club (1955) from 1955 to 1959.
- In his early days as a Mouseketeer, he was impressed that Walt Disney said "Hi Lonnie" to him in the cafeteria. A few minutes later, he realized that he was wearing his Mouseketeer shirt which had "Lonnie" printed in large letters across the front.

- After The Mickey Mouse Club (1955) stopped filming in 1958, he finished high school, turning 15 a few days before getting his diploma, and achieved a B.A. and M.A. in Theatre Arts from UCLA by age 20. He then completed a year towards a Ph.D. in English Literature. He resumed performing in the 1960s in plays and musicals including Broadway, films, television, commercials and industrial films.
