- Johnny Burnette was born on March 25, 1934 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. He was an actor, known for Pulp Fiction (1994), American Graffiti (1973) and A Dirty Shame (2004). He died on August 14, 1964 in Clear Lake, California, USA.
- In the late 1950s, struggling musicians Johnny and brother Dorsey Burnette camped out in front of teen idol Ricky Nelson's home in an attempt to have him record some of the songs they had written. Ricky Nelson finally met with them and was so impressed that he recorded the now classic million sellers "Waitin' In School", "Believe What You Say" and "It's Late".
- He began his career as lead vocalist and guitar player for The Johnny Burnette Trio (1952-1957). His solo career took off in 1960 with the million seller standards "Dreamin" and "You're Sixteen".
- Attended Blessed Sacrament School, in Memphis, Tennessee, and Memphis Catholic High School.
- Younger brother of Dorsey Burnette.
- Father of Rocky Burnette and uncle of Billy Burnette.
