Biography

Len Burge

Mini bio

  • Factotum Design Group is a special effects/ fine art collective Led by CEO Len Edward Burge III. With a selected group of enormously talented artists FDG brings imagination to life through practical effects, creature design, and character transformation. Specializing in prosthetics, animatronics, sculpting, digital design, mold-making, and on-set puppeteering/application. FDG creates highly detailed work that blurs the line between illusion and reality. Their artistry spans film, television and fine art where their creations help performers fully inhabit otherworldly beings, historical figures, and cinematic characters. With a foundation in special makeup effects (Stan Winston Studios) and traditional fine art (Chris Burden) FDG emphasizes practical effects over digital shortcuts. From lifelike wounds and aging makeup to elaborate fantasy creatures and horror designs, the work is grounded in anatomy, texture, and movement, ensuring that each piece performs convincingly both on camera and under stage lighting. FDG is particularly drawn to projects that require storytelling through transformation-where special effects becomes an essential part of character, not just decoration.
