Biography

Lydia Bruce was born on January 8, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, USA. She was an actress, known for The Doctors (1963), Guiding Light (1952) and Law & Order (1990). She was married to Leon Stevens. She died on May 7, 2008 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA.

Enjoyed gourmet cooking, gardening and international travel.

Invited in her mid-teens by famed choreographer George Balanchine, to join his junior company. Finally decided she wanted to pursue acting and relocated to Chicago to further her academic studies at Loyola University and theater at Goodman Theater.

Was named "the most promising actress of the season" in 1960 by Howard Taubman of The New York Times for her performance in "A Call on Kuprin".

Daughter of Ned and Bernice Slubowski.
