Roy 'Chubby' Brown started about 1970 in working men's clubs in the North East of England. While he never having made any television appearances, he manages to sell out where ever he appears. He started out in various double acts, then in an act called Alcock and Brown. When they split he went solo as Roy Chubby Brown in a patch work jacket and a flying helmet and used to do some 80.000 miles a year just touring the working men's clubs. He went on to sell over £30 million pounds worth of videos in the UK alone and made two albums of his songs, which went gold. In the early days, he did a lot o theatre owned by councils. That stopped when he was regularly billed as the 'Rudest and Crudest '. Even now, he is barred from the odd venue. He writes all of his own material, spending some six hours a day trying out new gags, He did eventually go Down Under and do a tour of Australia which broke box office records with tickets selling out in the first day of sale and in four hours at Sydney. This was back in the late '90's.
