- He was nominated for an Emmy for his work as Tom Harvey in the mini-series Roots (1977), but that year the academy decided to change the number of nominees from 6 to 5 and his nomination was revoked.
- Although he played Ben Vereen's son in Roots (1977), he is more than three years Vereen's senior in real life. Similarly, he played the grandson of Leslie Uggams, who is only four months his senior, in the same production.
