Arthur Brown was born on June 24, 1944 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England, UK. He is an actor and composer, known for Hot Fuzz (2007), Pirate Radio (2009) and Tommy (1975).

Lead singer of the rock groups The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and Kingdom Come.

Best known for his number one song "Fire" (1968), which featured the opening shouting line "I am the God of Hellfire".

His powerful wide-ranging operatic voice, and his high banshee screams, are a precursor to the banshee screams of many later heavy metal singers, and his theatrical concepts and stage presence such as the face makeup, voodoo dancing and flaming helmet pioneered what later became shock rock and progressive rock.

His hit single "Fire" is somewhat unique within psychedelic rock in that it contains no lead guitar or bass guitar.

Has performed with the S.A.S. (Spike Edney's All Stars) Band.
