Biography

Vikki (sometime spelt 'Vicki') was born to a Japanese mother and an Australian father, who was based at the Australian Army Headquaters in Tokyo. Her father brought Vikki and her mother Yoko to Australia in 1959. Sadly he died when Vikki was twelve.

Vikki first became interested in performing in her early teens, winning two talent quests at high school. She began her professional career in 1968 as a part of Brian and the Juniors on Melbourne's Channel Seven.

At the start of 1971, Vikki was the first girl to be signed to the new Channel 0 television series Young Talent Time. Paired with lanky 16 year old Rod Kirkham, and she became known for her exotic beauty and her distinctive voice. Rod and Vikki became 'an item' while they were on the show, but this was kept from the public at the time!

In January Rod and Vikki made their final appearance on Young Talent Time and both of them had already turned 17.

Within a few weeks Vikki was offered the role of 'Snow White' in the Rudas production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which opened at Melbourne's Princess Theatre and went on to tour Australia. In January 1974 she was back at the Princess Theatre as 'Aladdin' in Bozo and 'Aladdin's Lamp.

Released in Germany in mid-1973, Good Good Morning became a hit and Vikki traveled to Munich to capitalize on its success. She remained there for the next two years and toured Germany and Switzerland, first with Boney M and then with a little group called ABBA!

She returned to Australia in May 1975 to perform a benefit concert for the victims of Cyclone Tracy in Darwin (the concert also featured John Farnham, Robin Jolley, Select and Ross D. Wylie).
