Mini bio

  • Nina Brodskaya is a Soviet songstress (soprano), songwriter. She started playing music at the age of 5. At the age of 8 she began attending music school, from which she graduated in piano. Then she entered the Music School named after the October Revolution (later - VTMEI) in the conducting and choral department, from which she graduated in 1965. Nina's fate was radically influenced by a meeting with the famous musician, composer and conductor of a large jazz orchestra, Adolf 'Eddy' Rosner, which happened by chance in a sanatorium in Sochi. Paying attention to the talented girl, who was only 16 years old, Rosner invited her to perform with the orchestra he led as a soloist. And soon Nina appeared on the big stage. She toured a lot throughout the USSR. At the age of 18, the radio committee of TV and the Moscow city committee for cultural issues invited Nina to take part in an international music festival-competition, where she was awarded the title of diploma winner. Since 1965, she began collaborating with filmmakers, making her debut in the film Women (1966) with vocals - she performed the song 'Love-Ring' by composer Yan Frenkel and poet Mikhail Tanich. This is how Brodskaya's voice became recognizable, the singer gained popularity among millions of listeners. Nina is increasingly becoming a welcome guest on many popular radio and television programs. The first records appear with songs by famous composers and poets performed by her, which are sold throughout the Soviet Union in millions of copies. In the early 1970s, Nina Brodskaya was one of the most popular singers in the Soviet Union.

Quotes

  • I remember this incident. The author of the song about 'snowflakes and raindrops', Eduard Kolmanovskiy, received a call from the music department of Central Television, who said they really wanted his composition to appear on Utrennyaya pochta (1974), but performed by a different singer. Kolmanovskiy firmly said: 'Either Brodskaya sings it, or no one else'. They made a concession and invited me to the shoot.
  • I'm still full of energy. I'm still crazy about music. I think the moment I sit down at the piano, I'll immediately start composing, writing songs. It's impossible to quit. Music is my oxygen.
