Biography

Herbert Brodkin was born on November 9, 1912 in New York City, New York, USA. He was a producer and set decorator, known for The Alcoa Hour (1955), Holocaust (1978) and CBS Playhouse (1967). He was married to Patricia M. Brodkin. He died on October 29, 1990 in New York City, New York, USA.

Inductee into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1999.

Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in drama from the University of Michigan in 1934 and a Master of Fine Arts in directing and set design at the Yale School of Drama.

Founded and served as president of Plautus Productions in 1959. With producer Robert Berger, he founded Titus Productions in 1965.

Distinguished American TV producer, frequently concerned with social issues (and as often at odds with censors and programmers). He began his career as a designer of scenery for stage and screen and entered television as a set designer for CBS in the early 1950's.
