- Johan was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He earned a Bachelors degree from the School of Cinematic Arts at USC, and began his career directing commercials and music videos. Johan's work has been shortlisted in Cannes and won numerous awards.
His short film Passing Hearts was honored with several prestigious awards at film festivals over the world, including the audience award in Berlin. Johan made his debut as a feature film writer and director with the poignant drama Suddenly (Underbara älskade). The film, both critically and commercially successful, won the Peoples Choice Award at the Swedish Film Awards and the Audience Award at Nordic Film days in Lübeck.
Following up on the acclaimed hit, Johan wrote and directed Among Us, an emotionally gripping story about faith, hope and love - starring Michael Nyqvist, Izabella Scorupco, and Tchéky Karyo. His third feature I Love You (Jag Älskar Dig - En skilsmässokomedi) was a bittersweet, modern take of the "comedy of remarriage" genre.
Johan directed the complete Roslund & Hellström's CELL 8 crime drama limited series for Viaplay/Freemantle. He has also directed episodes of the thriller series Moscow Noir (Dirigenten), Thicker Than Water (Tjockare än vatten), and The Box.
