Biography

-Manon Briand studied film at Concordia University in Montreal before starting to write in 1987, then directing three years later. Her first short film, Les Sauf-conduits (1991), won several awards in Canada and abroad, including the Jury Prize for Graine de Cinéphage at the Créteil Film Festival in 1992. She continued to make her mark in short films with "Croix de bois" (1992) and "Picoti Picota" (1995), before taking part in the 1996 collective film Cosmos, directing the section entitled "Boost".

In her first feature film, "2 Secondes" (1998), starring Charlotte Laurier, Manon Briand tackles the sometimes pointless race against time. That same year, she won the Best Canadian Film and Best First Feature awards at the Montreal World Film Festival (Canada). She attracted the attention of a television producer, for whom she directed the story of "Marilyn Bell" (1999), a Canadian athlete of the 1950s.

In 2002, after three years of preparation, she presented her second film, "La Turbulence des fluides", the story of a seismologist (Pascale Bussières) and a childhood friend (Julie Gayet) who seek a logical explanation for the disappearance of the tide.
