When she was asked to be an announcer, first for VARA and later for NCRV, she played a prominent role in the early development of Dutch television in the 1950s and 1960s. NCRV also regularly uses her for other programs, such as the cabaret show Artisjok. In addition, she worked as an entertainer with a group of actors for the Ministry of Defence in the early 1960s, performing for conscripts.

She married actor and director Steye van Brandenberg in 1954 and moved to Rotterdam, where the Rotterdam Theatre is located. After a break due to her pregnancy, which led to her dismissal (at that time, pregnant women were not allowed to work in the theatre in the Netherlands) , she returned to the NCRV broadcasting network in 1956, having given birth to two children. She would remain in this role until 1964.

As a singer she released two LPs, Een avond in 't Winkeltje (1969) with cabaret numbers and Vandaag (1974) with listening songs.

In 1978, Van Brandenberg and Robert Long created the cabaret program Levenslang, with which they traveled together through the Netherlands and Belgium.

A remarkable chapter in her career is her own café-chantant, 't Winkeltje, which she opened in 1964 at Haringvliet 94 in Rotterdam. Its unique concept: a board at the entrance lists songs (red for happy, black for sad), which guests can request, and Van Brandenberg performs for them about five times a night. The theatre café quickly became a household name. 't Winkeltje attracts tens of thousands of visitors and offers a stage to both established names and emerging talent from the Dutch cabaret and small-scale arts scene. Frans Halsema, Jos Brink, Luc Lutz, and Saskia & Serge, among others, have performed there.

In 1954, she appeared on television for the first time. She co-starred with Bob Verstraete in Gijs Stappershoef's musical cabaret show "In zakformaat" (In Pocket Size).

In addition to her regular broadcasting work, she also provided commentary for various programs.

In 1992 she returned to the stage once more with the solo performance 'Als je maar niet denkt...', in which she partly appeared on stage as herself . She recounted personal memories, in which her mother, passionate about left-wing ideals and fiercely militant, plays a significant role.

Due to World War II, she was unable to attend primary school. She took an entrance exam to attend Vossius Gymnasium, a school that offered drama and music in addition to regular subjects. There, she earned her Gymnasium-Alpha diploma.

At the end of her career, Van Brandenberg served for many years as director of the Spijkenisse theater, where she played an important role in the cultural life of the region. Upon her retirement, she was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau.

With Ivo de Wijs and Seth Gaaikema, she forged the first plans for the establishment of the Rotterdam cabaret festival Cameretten in her café-chantant 't Winkeltje.

Ansje van Brandenberg was a Dutch actress, presenter and cabaret artist.

On television, she presented the music program "Rodeo" with Pim Jacobs and she also presented the children's program:" De pruikenmaker en de prins" (The Wig Maker and the Prince).

After graduating from Vossius Gymnasium in Amsterdam, she took acting lessons with Cor Hermes. At seventeen, in 1951, he had her perform with his Comedia Theatre Company in the production "Vader Thuis" (Father at Home).
