- Katie Boyle was born in Florence, Italy, the daughter of an Italian Marquis and a Yorkshire-born mother. She came to England at the age of nineteen and married Viscount Boyle a year later. She was buying hats when she met Beverly Nicholls, who was writing a story on buying hats. He asked her to model for him and thus started her career. She lived down the fact that she was a Marquess and a lady. She never advertised anything she didn't use herself. She got married again on August 26 1955 to Lloyds underwriter Greville Bayliss, who was born in 1920 and died February1976 of a massive coronary. She then married Peter Saunders in 1980. He died February 6th 2006.
