- Philippa Boyens is a New Zealand writer and producer who has co-written several of Peter Jackson's films. She co-wrote the Academy Award winning Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Hobbit trilogy which is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings films, The Lovely Bones, Mortal Engines, and the 2005 remake of King Kong. She also co-produced District 9.

- Her daughter Phoebe played a Hobbit in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), one of Mr. Harvey's victims in The Lovely Bones (2009), and a waitress in the Prancing Pony in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013).
