- William 'Stage' Boyd was born on December 18, 1889 in New York City, New York, USA. He was an actor, known for The Spoilers (1930), The Locked Door (1929) and The Lost City (1935). He was married to Clara Joel and Margaret Christiansen. He died on March 20, 1935 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

- Not to be confused - as he so often is - with the William Boyd who is remembered as "Hopalong Cassidy."
- Began on stage as a child, then worked in a circus before studying architecture. He acted on Broadway in 1906 and made his film debut in 1913.
- His bad behavior (which included arrests for alcohol and drug possession) not only wrecked his own career, but inadvertently derailed William Boyd's career as well. When the first stories broke about "Stage" Boyd's escapades, the photos splashed across the newspapers were of the wrong Boyd. The day before, Boyd (I) had signed a large contract with RKO, one that was immediately terminated by invoking the morals clause. A judge dictated he be professionally credited with the "stage" moniker in 1935 to differentiate the two men. Ultimately it didn't matter as he'd die prematurely from a variety of ailments related to alcohol and drug abuse.
