Composer ("12th Street Rag", "Kansas City Blues"), author and arranger, educated in public schools, he later became an arranger for dance orchestras. Joining ASCAP in 1946, his other popular compositions included "11th Street Rag", "Colorado Blues", "Fort Worth Blues", "Petticoat Lane", "Tipperary Blues", "Shamrock Rag", "Water Lily Dreams", and "Old Glory On Its Way".
