Elizabeth Bowen was born on June 7, 1899 in Dublin, Ireland. She was a writer, known for Shades of Darkness (1983), Camera Three (1954) and Theatre 70 (1960). She was married to Alan Charles Cameron. She died on February 22, 1973 in London, England, UK.

She considered writers Virginia Woolf and E.M. Forster among her closest friends.

She was awarded the C.B.E. (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 1948 for her services to literature.
