Biography

Berthe Bovy was born on January 6, 1887 in Liege, Belgium. She was an actress, known for Le joueur (1938), La reine Margot (1910) and No Trifling with Love (1910). She was married to Pierre Fresnay. She died on February 26, 1977 in Montgeron, Essonne, Île-de-France, France.

Her father, the poet Théophile Bovy, is the author of the words for "Li Tchant des Walons", official anthem of the Walloon Region.

A member of the Comédie-Française, she created the role of "La Voix Humaine", Jean Cocteau's famous monologue.
