Biography

Won several theater directing awards, including: a Drama-Logue award for "A Prayer for My Daughter" (which also won a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award), a Hollywood Actors Theatre award for "P.S. Your Cat Is Dead," and a University of Nebraska award for "A Taste of Honey." One of the original plays that he directed, Jim Geoghan 's "Only Kidding," won a Louis B. Mayer Foundation Award.

Earned Bachelor's and Masters' degrees in Speech and Theatre from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, and a PhD in Speech and Theatre from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

A movie and TV aficionado and former film critic and teacher of film history, he is one of the most prolific contributors of information to the IMDb.

Wrote his PhD dissertation on director Joshua Logan. An historical anaylsis, it focused on Logan's use of stage technique on film and film technique on stage.

Directed plays and taught acting, theater, speech, film history, and poetry classes at, among other schools: Northern Arizona University (in Flagstaff, Arizona), Nicolet College (in Rhinelander, Wisconsin), and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (in both Pasadena, California, and New York City).
