Daughter of Dr. med. Otto Bornée (b. March 5th, 1893, d. November 18th, 1956) and Elisabeth Bornée née Schmidt (b. September 26th, 1898, d. February 9th, 1978), mother of Cornelia (b. July 24th, 1948) and Angela (b. September 5th, 1952).
Her parents moved from Lothringen to Weende, Göttingen. Her father was a doctor.
