Biography

Heinrich Bolten-Baeckers was born on April 10, 1871 in Chemnitz, Germany. He was a producer and director, known for Mein Leopold (1919), Michels eiserne Faust (1914) and Kulissenzauber (1915). He died on January 30, 1938 in Dresden, Germany.

Heinrich Bolten-Baeckers emphasized his status as a film-pioneer with the founding of his own production company BB-Film-Fabrikation Bolten-Baeckers in 1909.

Despite his enormous activity for the film business Heinrich Bolten-Baeckers remained busy at the theater as well. Among others he was the manager of the Berliner Lustspielhaus.

The director and producer Heinrich Bolten-Baeckers belonged to the pioneers of filmmakers. He already shot his first movie as a director in 1906 with "Der Hauptmann von Köpenick". This movie retold the real events with a re-enactment. He also wrote the script for this movie.

He realized numerous movies as a director and producer and he committed himself to the comedies.

Heinrich Bolten-Baeckers began his professional career at the theater where he was already active as an author. Among others he wrote several librettist for Paul Lincke. Beside it he also wrote the lyrics for still well known songs like "Das ist die Berliner Luft, Luft, Luft".
