Biography

John Boland was born on February 12, 1913 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, UK. He was a writer and director, known for Te quiero con locura (1935), Piernas de seda (1935) and The League of Gentlemen (1960). He was married to Philippa Carver. He died on June 19, 1976 in San Mateo, California, USA.

Son of Albert Edward Boland (a manufacturer) and Elizabeth Mills.

He worked a great variety of jobs: farm hand, laborer, deckhand, lumberjack, railroad worker, factory worker, salesman, 1930-1938; manufacturers' agent, selling advertising signs and automobile components, 1946-1955. He became a full-time writer in 1956. He formed his own film company, John Boland Productions Ltd., in 1964; and served as Chairman, Writers' Summer School, 1958-1960.
