    Boermans is a Dutch director and producer, his most recent film iHostage (2025) became Netflix's most-watched non-English language film globally within its week of release, reaching the #1 position in 81 countries and cementing its status as the most-viewed Dutch film of all time.

    He helmed The Golden Hour (Netflix), a critically acclaimed thriller series centered around the first 48 hours after a terrorist attack, praised for its intensity and realism. The series quickly reached the Netflix global Top 10. Prior to that, he directed the cultural phenomenon Mocro Maffia (Videoland), a multi-season hit with several spin-offs about Amsterdam's criminal underworld, which won the Dutch Academy Award for Best Drama Series and was pivotal in shaping the current wave of new premium Dutch television.

    He also directed High Flyers for Dutch broadcaster NPO, centered around a group of F16 Fighter Pilots. An aerial action drama series made in close collaboration with the Royal Dutch Air Force, showcasing his ability to direct large-scale military sequences and international co-productions. Other credits include the long-running series New Neighbors which sold to Channel 4 and became the first Dutch series on Amazon Prime, and early breakout feature App, which became a festival success as the first film in the world to pioneer second-screen technology in cinemas, sparking international remake interest.

    Boermans' other works include prison drama Roffa (Nominated Grand Prix D'Europe 2014), comedy Wasted and the 3D musical spectacle Sky. In 2024 he directed the action movie Invasion, made in partnership with the Royal Netherlands Navy and sold worldwide by Studio Canal.

    He's a graduate of the Dutch Film & Television Academy and the American Film Institue in Hollywood. He's a former board member of Daff (Dutch Academy for Film) and sits on the board of Shortcutz & Vevam. He's a member of Efa (European Film Academy) and Ddg (Dutch Directors Guild).
