Marusya Bociurkiw is an author, filmmaker and professor at X (Ryerson) University. She has directed 10 films and videos and is author of 6 books including, most recently, Food Was her Country: The Memoir of a Queer Daughter (Caitlin Press 2018). Her most recent film, the award-winning documentary "This Is Gay Propaganda: LGBT Rights & the War in Ukraine" (2015), screened in 12 countries and was translated into 3 languages. Her books have won and been shortlisted for several awards including Kobzar, Lambda Literary, CBC Writes, and Independent Publisher Awards. She is working on a new documentary called "Before #MeToo: The Story of a Feminist Media Revolution." - forthcoming, 2023
