Biography

Leopold Blonder was born on July 1, 1893 in Vienna, Austria. He was an art director and director, known for The Rebel (1933), Storm Over Mont Blanc (1930) and Der Berg des Schicksals (1924). He died on September 20, 1932 in Innsbruck, Austria.

The production designer Leopold Blonder studied architecture in Vienna before he joined the film business in 1918.

Leopold Blonder died in 1932 because of an infectious disease at the age of only 41.

His last cinematical works came at the beginning of the 30s.

First he worked as an assistant for different movies but when he moved from Austria to Germany he met the film director Arnold Fanck. Fanck engaged him for some of his very popular movies located in the mountains and Leopold Blonder created for him and other directors the decor for "Der Berg des Schicksals" (1924), "Der heilige Berg" (26), "Ramper, der Tiermensch" (1927), "Manege" (1928) and "Die Todesfahrt im Weltrekord" (1929).

He directed five short films during the early 1920s.
