Biography

Alessandro Blasetti was born on July 3, 1900 in Rome, Lazio, Italy. He was a director and writer, known for First Communion (1950), The Iron Crown (1941) and Un giorno nella vita (1946). He was married to Maria Laura Quagliotti. He died on February 1, 1987 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.

Father of production manager Mara Blasetti.

Former student of law turned film critic. Founded his own production company, Augustus, in 1928. Later helped establish Italy's premier film school, the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, in Rome. Associated in the 1940's and 50's with comedies and historical spectaculars.

Partner of actress Elisa Cegani from 1936 until his death.
