Jamie Blanks was born on November 29, 1971 in Melbourne, Australia. He was a composer and editor, known for Crawlspace (2012), Urban Legend (1998) and Valentine (2001). He was married to Simone Chin. He died on March 16, 2026 in Melbourne, Australia.

Filmed a short "trailer" for the then unproduced I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) to producer Neal H. Moritz. Moritz was impressed but the directing job had already gone to Jim Gillespie. The producer, however, kept Blanks in mind for his later project Urban Legend (1998).

Living in his home town of Melbourne, Australia with wife Simone and child.

Attended Swinburne Film School (becoming the Victorian College of the Arts during his three years of study).

Has a son Oliver.
