Popular poet, novelist and lecturer whose works often dealt with the
beauty and culture of Hawaii and the South Seas. During his early life,
Blanding worked at a variety of jobs throughout the world, gaining many
experiences reflected in his writings. This background and his later
restless travels led to his being dubbed "The Vagabond Poet".
